Indian Air Force is the air-based force. It can be proudly said that the Indian Air Force is the air arm of our Indian forces. The formation of this force dates back to 8 October 1932. The first AC flight came into being in 1933. It had the strength of six RAF trained officers and 19 Havai sepoys (air force soldiers). The Indian air force is rank fourth among all the air forces in the world. Since 1950, the Indian Air Force has been in two 4 wars one with neighboring Pakistan and one with China. The Indian Air Force is divided into five operational commands and two functional commands which are:
CENTRAL AIR COMMAND: Headquarters are in Allahabad.
EASTERN AIR COMMAND: Headquarters are in Shilong.
SOUTHERN AIR COMMAND: Headquarters are in Thiruvanthapuram.
SOUTHERN WESTERN COMMAND: Headquarters are in Gandhinagar.
WESTERN AIR COMMAND: Headquarters are in Delhi.
TRAINING COMMAND: Headquarters are in Bangalore.
MAINTENANCE COMMAND: Headquarters are in Nagpur.
